Rambling with Maurice

Breaking up this week's show, I've added a guest co-host. Although this is his first podcast, Maurice grabs the [proverbial] bull by the horn for this show. Covering a variety of topics from sports to politics to human nature, today's Father/Son bantering is not your typical oneupmanship style of generational counterpoint. [If you like this 2-person format, contact us via email, episode comment, or visit Facebook (EncouragementGuy Radio)

Walking a Day in a Womans Moccassins

Describe your life if you were forced to spend a day in another's mind/body/spirit. Who knows...maybe that's why the Native Americans were infamous for the saying, walk a mile in another man's moccassins. Today, we explore the idea of spending a day in another's shoes (or skin). Looking beyond ourselves, we begin to look into, behind, and through our neighbor's lenses. Come with me as I walk a day in another wo-man's moccassins.

How to Control Your Life

The self-help movement teaches that we are the "Captains of our ship". Simply believe and [then] achieve! -- goes the mantra. After experiencing Earthly life for 1/2 century, my conclusion is that we don't control our lives. My viewpoint is that life is given and received. The amazing thing is that The Creator also gifted humans with the power of choice -- aka, Free Will -- to exercise autonomy of choice management of this gift of life. We are Life Managers; listen-in to learn more...

The Easy Way to set Goals

LeBron James Basketball GoalGoal-setting educational resources has become a cottage (lucrative) industry. Whether your issues/problem/desire or goal is to lose weight, improve your love life, advance in your career or get a new job, we've been taught to become goal oriented. Achieving our goals is supposed to makes us happier...Right?

Goals are a necessary part of everyday living and actualization. Yet we fail to realize is that getting to (goal) Yes! isn't the point. What is the point? The point is that there is no point. Conversations about Fathers Day

FeltonMilteer4by6.jpgCelebrating Father's Day conjures up thoughts...both good as well as not so good. Dads shape the well-being of their offspring. Memories of Dad floods our hearts with so much emotion. As we prepare for Sunday's 2013 Father's day event, I reflected back upon my own relationship with Daddy.

As you listen in, think back to your own Dad-relationship. Share if you like, or simply pick out the similarities between mine and yours. Happy Father's Day!

3 Life Lessons from Military Leadership

Be-Know-Do--LeadershiptheArmyWay.jpgI served 20 years of Active-Duty Military. After leaving the service, I attempted to reintegrate in the civilian corporate world.

Wearing corporate gray, out with the old and in with the new.

Trouble is, the leadership lessons learned in the Army are invaluable tools. As true as this is, I didn't recognize this fact until...[stick around for the rest of the story]

Whois Afraid of North Korea

Obama_Kim_Jong_Un_Mirror.jpgWith all of the saber-rattling, it appears that the old battle of good v. evil, Cold War is rearing its ugly head...at least as far as North Korea is concerned. The NORTH is proclaiming not only as having nuclear capabilities, but is actively broadcasting its intent to employ said weaponry [WMD] toward South Korea and Japan.

On the other hand, the US has responded with a show of strength in the form of Naval battle groups, intelligence analysis, and media communication. As a consequence, the possibility of WAR is quite real. Diplomacy can be an effective tool, yet that path has been visited previously. This week's show picks apart the question: Whois Afraid of North Korea?
